The United Kingdom import market for foods and beverages. : C42-11/1-1971E-PDF
"Imports of food and beverages to the United Kingdom since 1954 have shown a rate of growth below that of the import market as a whole, increasing at a rate of 1.57 per annum while other sectors such as mineral fuels, semi-fabricated materials and end products have grown at rates from 5.97% to 15.97% in comparison. As a percentage of total imports, the food and beverages sector has declined from 39.47% in 1954 to 23.37% in 1969, while value imported increased from $3.7 billion to $4.6 billion. The relative decline reflects a lesser reliance by Britain on foreign sources for her foodstuffs"--page 1.
