520 |a"Following a period of high exploitation by East European countries in the late sixties to mid seventies the nominal catches of Atlantic mackerel in NAFO SA 3-6 have decreased markedly since 1976 after Canada the United States extended their jurisdiction over fisheries to 200 miles of their coast. The fishing mortalities on older age-groups appear to be below F0.1 but recent year-classes (1975 onwards) are believed to be weak.
