"Three sources of catch rate data were examined: (1) ring net landing slips, (2) ring net log records, and (3) gillnet landing slips. These data were used to calculate total mortality rates within the stock ... Cohort analysis was performed at these and the average mortality levels and in all cases indicated a decline in the stock with the spawning biomass declining to < 16% of peak levels"--Abstract.
