On the growth rate of wind-generated waves / M. Donelan [and five others], : En13-5/91-117E-PDF

"Understanding of the growth and propagation of surface waves on lakes and oceans has always been of critical importance to such fields as coastal engineering, offshore engineering and naval architecture. As concerns related to climate and global change increase, the importance of the realistic description of waves is even greater because they represent the interface between the ocean and the atmosphere - the two most important subsystems controlling these changes. This paper provides new insight into the growth of waves as a function of fetch, from rapidly growing short fetch waves through to full development"--Management perspective.
