| 520 | |a"The purpose of this report is to investigate the level of management expertise in a sample of approximately fifty small and medium sized Canadian technology-based companies. Lack of management ability has been found to be a significant handicap to small businessmen in research conducted by both the authors and others. Canadian managers have often been accused of a general lack of management ability and sophistication, particularly in the areas of marketing and finance. This is considered to be a contributing factor to the failure of many Canadian companies to innovate and survive.
