"In the late summer of 1979, the Windermere Valley was selected for a pilot study that would identify the impact of federal programs on land use in a specific region. The extent of federal influence on land use in this valley was greater than had been expected and ranged from the ubiquitous post offices and police stations through to major financial and planning assistance under a variety of federal/provincial agreements"--Abstract.
