Baseline study of the watershed in the Silver Tusk area, Yukon Territory / by M.E. Jack and T.R. Osler. : En40-240/82-18E-PDF

"A predevelopment study was undertaken by the Environmental Protection Service of the watershed near Silver Tusk Mines Ltd. In June, 1981. Except for the mine adit water which had high concentrations of dissolved salts, water quality met drinking water criteria. The sediment metals concentrations were similar to other Yukon streams except at the mine adit where high concentrations of metals reflected those present in Silver Tusk ore. The bottom fauna results were representative of clear, unpolluted, Yukon streams. The presence of trace amounts of antimony, cadmium, copper, and mercury in the ore will have to be considered in planning minewater and mill effluent treatments when Silver Tusk Mine is developed, because concentrations of these metals will have to be kept low in effluents"--Abstract, page i.
