Power line noise : Winnipeg, 185 KHz to 950 MHz / by Victor Herak and Andrew Kirk. : Co24-226/1977E-PDF

"The noise generated by high voltage power lines in Winnipeg has been measured to determine whether any types of line construction arechronically noisy and amenable to economical noise reduction. More than twenty test sites were selected, half in areas of frequent interference complaints and half in complaint-free areas. Analysis of the noise spectra at these sites showed no significantly noisy line types. Costs for burying power lines were found so high as to preclude line burial as a practical method of noise reduction on existing lines"--Abstract.
