"This report summarizes the results of chemical residue and biological measurements in a selected number of operational and experimental pesticide spray applications in British Columbia. The chemical measurement data obtained during herbicide applications were used for the development of buffer zone guidelines to protect salmon and trout fishery habitat areas. Spray drift patterns, air, sediment and water contamination, and the persistence of herbicides in the aquatic and terrestrial environments were studied. The impact of certain insecticides on aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates was investigated to evaluate the effects of spray operations on these organisms. Twenty-eight different studies are summarized in seven appendices covering the following pesticide programs: forestry conifer release, rights-of-way vegetation control, forestry insect pest control, mosquito control, agricultural-urban pest control, aquatic pest control and industrial/commercial vegetation and pest control. The body of the report summarizes the results of these investigations, and provides a general assessment of the findings of the monitoring studies"--Abstract, page i.
