The purpose of this study is to provide reference documents which summarize the influences of ecological diversity and human activity on water quality, and to provide a framework with which potential water quality monitoring sites can be selected to address specific federal water quality issues. Issues identified for the NRN are: agricultural eutrophication, pesticides, urbanization, acid rain, pristine/baseline, and development/resource extraction.
