"Financial security in the Well-being Surveillance Framework includes two indicators: satisfaction with finances and the low income rate. The low income rate remained steady over the last three cycles of the Life After Service Studies (LASS). However, satisfaction with finances declined from 75% in 2010 to 69% in 2016. This raises questions as to whether the framework includes the right indicators and why satisfaction with finances declined. This study examined: (1) measures of financial security in Canada; (2) the literature on the importance of financial satisfaction to global life satisfaction and factors associated with financial satisfaction; and (3) financial satisfaction among Canadian Armed Forces Veterans in LASS.
