Statistical relationships between topography and precipitation in a mountainous region / Bill Taylor, Science Division. : En57-45/95-02E-PDF

"Statistical analysis of the relationships between mean seasonal precipitation and a number of orographic parameters was performed for the Williston Lake basin in north-central British Columbia. The study found three statistically significant relationships: a positive linear correlation between station elevations and fall/winter precipitation; a negative linear correlation between rise (steepness of slope) and springtime precipitation for slopes having a northwest aspect; and a negative linear correlation between distance downstream from a barrier and fall/winter precipitation"--Abstract.
