"It will be immediately apparent that the following statements were written subsequent to the workshop. They comment on several aspects of the assessment of environmental impacts from northern development and the role of IWD. One role, which was perceived to be the workshop direction by WSC, was to describe field and office techniques, instrumentation and procedures used in the AIPP investigations. The intent was to share this knowledge with other agencies and offices and to stimulate discussion from other groups with similar experiences. The ultimate outcome of this sharing of technology would be improved techniques of data collection necessary to assess environmental impact statements adequately"--Foreword.
