"Over the last few decades, mobile radios have been designed for the transmission of uncompressed or slightly compressed voice signais, using frequency modulation in a 25 to 30 kHz channel bandwidth. As the technology evolves, there is a constant trend toward the use of digital voice and modulation methods, in order to reduce the required channel bandwidth and transmitted power for a given voice quality. The objective of this task was the development and the implementation of a state-of-the-art mobile digital narrowband radio"--Abstract.
