A study of low-noise wide dynamic range radio frequency front end amplifiers / by R.J. Bonnycastle. : Co24-3/7-1220-1971E-PDF

"This report is a summary of an investigation of solid-state RF amplifier design in the frequency range .01 to 20 MHz. These amplifiers, which must be broadband, were to be used as RF stages in a spacecraft receiver system which must detect very weak signals in the presence of strong interfering signals from ground based transmitters. These interfering signals can mix in the RF amplifier, if it is not perfectly linear, to produce new, spurious signals, some of which may be at the frequency the receiver is tuned to. The report deals with the theory of noise and distortion. Also discussed are measurement problems and the effect of the antenna and other elements on RF amplifier performance. Other approaches to wide dynamic range receiver design are also considered"--Abstract, page 1.
