"A simple feed network is described which is general enough to be integrated with various antennas to produce polarization agility. The network contains three digital phase shifters which can be set such that the antenna radiates any one of the clockwise circular, counter-clockwise circular, or linear polarization at any orientation. As an example, this paper presents a circuit configuration for a wideband microstrip patch antenna operating at L-Band. The patch can radiate any one of four polarization states, with at least a 10% bandwidth. This configuration is of particular interest to mobile wireless applications which would benefit from polarization diversity"--Abstract, page 1.
