Clast-lithology data for selected surficial samples from the Trout Lake and Kakisa Lake protected area strategy surveys, southwest Northwest Territories / J.A. Plakholm, R.C. Paulen, and D. Paré. : M183-2/8437E-PDF

"This Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) Open File reports the pebble count data for samples donated by the Northwest Territories Geoscience Office (now, Northwest Territories Geological Survey (NTGS)). As part of the Northwest Territories Protected Area Strategy (PAS) surveys, several candidate areas, including Sambaa K'e (Trout Lake region), Ka'a'gee Tu (Kakisa Lake region), and Lue Túé Sųlái (Jean Marie River region), were assessed for their potential to host economic bedrock mineralization. Part of the evaluation included regional surficial till and stream sediment sampling, which was conducted during the 2008, 2009, and 2012 field seasons. The coarse fractions (>2 mm or +10 mesh) of these samples were offered to the GSC by the NTGS. A subset of these coarse fractions was examined to provide regional context to the glacial dispersal of sediments in the southwest Northwest Territories. The focus of this report is the clast lithologies in the till samples collected in Sambaa K'e (Trout Lake region) and Ka'a'gee Tu (Kakisa Lake region)"--Introduction.
