"Length at age data was used to fit a growth curve in which the predicted yearly increment in length is a function of the environmental factors prevelant during that year. The analysis was performed on seven NAFO regional cod stocks, with inclusion of the environmental factors population density and bottom temperature. These environmental factors were highly significant and explained as much as two thirds of the variability in the data"--Abstract, page 2.
