"The Barn Owl is among the most widely distributed of bird species in the world, occurring on every continent except Antarctica. It has a global rank of G5, indicating that it is Secure (NatureServe 2013). It is predominantly a warm-climate species and its principal breeding range within North America is the United States (Ontario Barn Owl Recovery Team 2010) where it has a national rank of N5, or Secure (NatureServe 2013). Refer to Table 1 for a complete list of sub-national ranks for the Barn Owl in the United States"--Species status information, page 6.
