"Among the most cost-effective and practical means of remediating contaminated soils, landfarming is well-suited to Canada due to its simplicity and land-intensive requirements. Despite its frequent application, there is not one set of standard guidelines for the application of landfarming on federal sites. There was an Environment Canada guideline developed in 1993, but since then there has been new research performed and several provincial guidelines developed that should be considered. As a first step in developing these guidelines, this report describes existing landfarming guidelines from Canadian, U.S. and other foreign jurisdictions, other applicable organisations and remediation contractors and researchers were reviewed and compared"--Abstract, page iii.
