"Pacific salmon (Oncorhynchus spp.) are some of the most iconic fish in Canada and are woven into the cultural traditions of First Nations in British Columbia (B.C.) and Yukon. They provide a range of cultural, socio-economic, and environmental benefits to the region. Pacific salmon abundance levels are significantly correlated with the health and productivity of many plant and animal species, such as the Southern Resident killer whales.
