Sustainable forest management supports ecosystems and maintains the health and diversity of forests. After a forest is harvested, regeneration is required, either through natural or artificial means. In 2019, more than 570 million tree seedlings were planted. To ensure that forests can continue to provide timber, the harvests must remain within sustainable limits. The maximum sustainable harvest is known as the sustainable wood supply. The indicator compares the amount of timber harvested with the sustainable wood supply"--Page 4.
