"This is an executive summary to a report, entitled, Urban Brownfields: Case Studies for Sustainable Economic Development. It has been prepared for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) by Delcan Corporation, Colder Associates Ltd. and McCarthy-Tetrault. The paper is part of the contribution of CMHC to an ongoing collaborative initiative of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA), and the International City and County Managers Association (ICMA). The purpose of the report is to provide information on the current Canadian situation regarding legal and administrative frameworks, players in the the process of developing contaminated sites, recent case studies, and suggested best practices that might be employed in other jurisdictions"--Executive summary.
