Exposure to traffic-related air pollution in Canada : an assessment of population proximity to roadways. : H144-99/2022E-PDF
"This report updates previous estimates of population proximity to high-traffic roadways (HTRs) as a surrogate for exposure to traffic-related air pollution (TRAP) in Canada. Traffic conditions on HTRs are expected to influence nearby ambient air pollutant concentrations and include expressways, highways, arterial roads, and major roads. The report objectives are to: estimate the size of populations residing near HTRs at various geographic levels; determine if specific population age groups are more likely to live near HTRs; determine if specific socioeconomic status (SES) groups are more likely to live near HTRs; estimate the proportion of educational facilities and long-term care facilities located near HTRs; and inform how proximity approaches can be considered for policy development to reduce exposure to TRAP and the associated health burden"--Executive summary, page 1.
