      <marc:subfield code="a">"In order to support the transition of new Correctional Officers (COs) from the Training Academy to the correctional environment, an Onboarding Program is being piloted at Kent institution. The program has several components throughout a CO's first year of employment that extend beyond On-the-Job Training, including structured shadowing, mentor support, and a strong emphasis on values and ethics. This research aims to examine the effectiveness of the Onboarding Program through the consideration of its impact on both COs and on the broader institutional environment. More specifically, the purpose is to examine whether the Onboarding Program can enhance the transfer of skills from training to the realities of the correctional environment, while solidifying the integration of the Correctional Service of Canada's (CSC) values and ethics. This research is a collaboration between the Research Branch and the Learning and Development Branch."</marc:subfield>
