520 | |a"Flooding is Canada's most common and costly natural disaster. Current damage costs are at an all-time high and are projected to keep rising, exacerbated by climate change and continued development in high risk areas. This complex challenge must be met with multiple interconnected solutions requiring collaboration across whole-of-society partners. One of the federal commitments to address rising flood risk is to bring affordable flood insurance to currently uninsured homes in high risk areas. Adapting to Rising Flood Risk: An Analysis of Insurance Solutions for Canada is a report by Canada's Task Force on Flood Insurance and Relocation (2021-2022), which presents facts and evidence-based analysis by diverse academics, actuaries, researchers and Task Force members made up of government officials at the federal, provincial, and territorial orders as well as industry leaders and practitioners. It seeks to provide a common understanding of possible insurance solutions towards better protecting high risk areas and building resilience to flooding across Canada"--Page 2. |
