"The Fraser River Basin is one of the fastest growing regions in Canada and it accounts for the majority of British Columbia's population and economic production. Policy-makers and residents alike are concerned that future quality of life in the Basin may decline if its resources are not managed sustainably. A large number of groups have expended considerable effort to define sustainability goals and, to a lesser extent, select sustainability indicators. Many hope that collection and monitoring of such indicators will provide important policy guidance to decision-makers and will also provide a means for tracking sustainability"--Executive summary.
