Potential ecological and socio-economic impacts of marine protected areas and links to coastal community wellbeing / by Lisa Baxter, Tanya Koropatnick, Leah McConney, and Elise Will. : Fs97-4/3255E-PDF

"Community wellbeing is an important factor in the design and management of effective marine protected areas (MPAs). Through literature review, potential ecological and socio-economic impacts from MPAs on coastal communities are summarized. A case study of the Lyme Bay MPA is presented to demonstrate a concrete example of the interplay between potential impacts on coastal communities. A multi-dimensional framework and potential strategies to support improved understanding of coastal community wellbeing are outlined"--Abstract, page iv.
