Accumulation of human capital in Canada, 1970 to 2020 : an analysis by gender and the role of immigration / by Wulong Gu. : CS11-0019/468E-PDF

"Human capital is an important determinant of the well-being of individuals and long-term economic and societal progress. This paper finds that human capital among women is lower than that among men. This gender gap has declined over time. From 1970 to 2020, the average human capital of women relative to that of men increased from 35% to 70%. The gender gap in human capital existed for all age groups and all education levels and narrowed over time for all because of large increases in the labour force participation, education and average earnings of women compared with those of men"--Abstract.
