"Large-scale resource development projects in Canada’s north often require the partial or entire destruction of inland lakes. The fish in these lakes are salvaged following a standard fish-out protocol where proponents provided data that were then compiled by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO). Here we examined the fish-out data to provide an overview of the dominant fish species encountered, examine what factors might influence the efficacy of a fish-out, and test whether the protocol-described thresholds were reasonable"--Abstract.
