"From 1988 through 1995, geoscientists from the Department of Geology (now the School of Earth and Climate Sciences) of the University of Maine, and their scientific partners, undertook geoscientific studies in the Gulf of Maine in territorial waters of the United States of America and Canada. Belknap et al. (2022) describe the metadata and marine geoscience information collected during these expeditions and describes how the seismic survey information can be accessed online. Within this eight-year period, the 1990 expedition onboard the RV Cape Hatteras was originally identified by the University of Maine as CH-10-90. This expedition was renamed by the Geological Survey of Canada Atlantic (GSCA) as 90CAPE HATTERAS to conform to that latter organization's naming standards. During 90CAPE HATTERAS, thirteen piston cores were collected in the Gulf of Maine. The analytical data for these cores is presented here. The information presented here is supplied as received by the GSCA from the first author. The information is evidently a photocopy of the original sheets; the present location of these originals is unknown. It is likely that no further information on these cores will be forthcoming. Clearly it is useful to have the analytical data of the Gulf of Maine cores accessible online, thus this Open File was created"--Introduction, page 1.
