"This independent assurance report was prepared by the Office of the Auditor General of Canada on the actions taken by the Public Health Agency of Canada, Health Canada, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to address antimicrobial resistance. Our responsibility was to provide objective information, advice, and assurance to assist Parliament in its scrutiny of the government's management of resources and programs and to conclude on whether the actions taken to address antimicrobial resistance complied in all significant respects with the applicable criteria. … The objective of this audit was to determine whether the Public Health Agency of Canada, Health Canada, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada delivered actions to address antimicrobial resistance, to provide comprehensive surveillance, and to preserve the effectiveness of medically important antimicrobials"--About the audit, page 19.
