"This document describes the Canadian Food Inspection Agency's (CFIA) oversight of the inspection of pedigreed seed crops by Licensed Seed Crop Inspectors (LSCI) operating under the supervision of Authorized Seed Crop Inspection Services (ASCIS). ASCIS and LSCI are private entities and individuals licensed by the CFIA to provide pedigreed seed crop inspection services. LSCI conduct the inspections and complete Seed Crop Inspection Reports which are verified by the ASCIS before being submitted to the Canadian Seed Growers' Association (CSGA) through the CSGA's SeedCert software package. The CSGA issues a crop certificate for the inspected seed crop based on the submitted Seed Crop Inspection Report. The CFIA, as the authority for seed certification in Canada, is responsible for overseeing the ASCIS implementation of its quality management system (QMS) and the LSCI delivery of pedigreed seed crop inspection."
