Current state of coastal change monitoring and mapping in Canada : towards a national framework / J. Carter and N.L. Hastings. : M183-2/9178E-PDF
"Coastal populations and settlements in Canada will require land use planners and other decisionmakers to understand the hazards and potential instability of coastal environments in Canada. Natural variations in coastal processes will be intensified by the ongoing impacts of climate change, such as rising sea levels and increased storm events. In response, this study outlines the current state of coastal change research in Canada and reviews the methods used across the country for detecting and monitoring coastal change. This study also identifies regions that require further research and suggests possibilities for a potential National Coastal Change Classification System for use in a future Canadawide framework of coastal change research"--Abstract, page 1.
