Deregulation trends in international broadcasting / Dr. T.L. McPhail and Dr. P. Mercer. : Co22-686/1988E-PDF

"This report details the issues arising in international broadcasting and deregulation. It systematically examines deregulatory trends in the United States, Australia, and countries in the European Economic Community (EEC). The study attempts to identify the forces responsible for deregulation internationally, and to a delineate some of the resulting trends, particularly those created by legal challenges and sensitivity to the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and the Canadian Charter of Rights & Freedoms. It concludes with a section which details some of the implications of international factors that ultimately may influence the public policy options pursued by Canadian federal agencies or departments"--Introduction.
