Climate adaptation plan 2024. : W93-116/2024E-PDF
"People are feeling the impacts of climate change globally and locally. Research predicts these impacts will intensify and affect the National Capital Region for decades to come. As such, the region will experience more extreme weather events like floods, wildfires, droughts, heatwaves, freeze-thaw spells and tornadoes. These hazards already magnify existing stressors or challenges, like aging infrastructure, and are expected to create new ones, as the risks of more frequent and severe climate-related hazards intensify over time. Without proactive action, the National Capital Commission's (NCC) exposure to the costs and disruptions related to climate change are expected to increase. This is the NCC's first plan to increase its resilience to climate risks"--Page 2.
