"To aid in delivering its mandate, the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) engages individuals or organizations to meet unexpected fluctuations in workload, to acquire specialized expertise not readily available in the public service, or to fill in for public servants during temporary absences. … The objective of this audit was to provide NRC senior management with independent assurance that the NRC's use of professional services was compliant with the Treasury Board of Canada's Contracting Policy, Directive on the Management of Procurement, Government Contract Regulations, and NRC policies, directives and procedures.
