"Systemic inequities drive exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity to climate hazards as different individual factors and social determinants of health (SDOH) influence people's climate vulnerability. Therefore, understanding how different population groups, especially those already in situations of vulnerability, experience and are affected by wildfires ensures that health equity considerations are prioritized and embedded in emergency preparedness and response, and in public health action on climate change. By addressing societal inequities and vulnerabilities, public health outcomes can be improved for all"--Introduction, page 4.
