"The federal government and the provincial and territorial governments share the administration of correctional services in Canada, which include custody (sentenced custody, remand and other temporary detention), community-based sentences (e.g., probation and conditional sentences), statutory release of offenders from custody, and parole supervision. This Juristat provides information on the adult correctional system caseload and costs, including trends in the supervision of adults admitted to and released from custody and community services, and their characteristics"--Page 6.
