5203 |a"The commitment of modern communities to the abatement of industrial pollution has induced an allocation of resources to that activity. Associated with this activity are the backward linkages with other industries whose products are the equipment, material and service inputs used in constructing pollution abatement plant. The activity of industrial production of pollution abatement equipment is new, and, as such, is not separately identified in the Standard Industrial Classification of Statistics Canada. This report addresses itself to the problem of identifying the complex range and quantities of equipment and materials used in the construction of pollution abatement facilities.
