"The objective of this Juristat article is to provide information on the collection, through the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Survey, of unfounded criminal incidents in Canada, including sexual assaults. It will provide background on the collection of these data and an overview of the actions taken by the Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics (CCJS) - a division of Statistics Canada - and the Police Information and Statistics (POLIS) Committee of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) to revise the UCR Survey to address data quality and reporting issues, and to reinstate collection of information on unfounded criminal incidents"--Page 3.
