"The construction of the Mactaquac Dam in 1967 has increased the amount of accessible nursery habitat for Saint John River Alewife (Alosa pseudoharengus), providing the potential for stock subunit expansion. Advice on reference points for the Saint John River Alewife stock subunit upstream of the Mactaquac Dam was requested by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) Resource Management to help determine the potential for stock size expansion of this Alewife stock subunit"--Context, page [1].
