"Seismic lines are clear cut areas of forest used for seismic exploration and are the result of oil and gas activities in Alberta, which has occurred since the 1920s. Currently, seismic lines are the most extensive anthropologically generated feature in Alberta’s landscape and have fragmented woodland caribou habitat in Canada’s boreal forests. The cumulative effects of these features, along with natural disturbances (e.g., wildfires, insect infestations, diseases) and anthropogenic activities (e.g., oil and gas extractions, forestry operations) compounded by climate change, is a major environmental concern for the boreal region"--Page [1].
