This technology has been touted as part of a system that could supplement radiosonde data. Hence, some knowledge on how these devices work, and what their strengths and weaknesses are will prove useful. The purpose of this paper is to provide the reader with a basic understanding of the physical processes behind the construction of an atmospheric temperature profile using radiometer data.
