Museum-vouchered freshwater fish specimens from British Columbia associated with the NAMERS DNA sequence data portal / by Cathryn L. Abbott, Joy Wade, Liane Stenhouse, and Scott R. Gilmore. : Fs97-13/1424E-PDF

"This data report provides information on 18 freshwater fish specimens collected in British Columbia that were deposited at the Royal British Columbia Museum as voucher specimen for a new, web-based DNA sequence data repository. This repository, called NAMERS (Novel Applied eDNA Metabarcoding Reference Sequences) provides essential, high-quality, baseline DNA sequence data to enable environmental DNA (eDNA) monitoring of freshwater fish in BC. eDNA monitoring will aid fish species detection in BC and contribute to a better understanding of fish distributions, including Species at Risk and Aquatic Invasive Species. As such, it will significantly elevate our ability to monitor the status and distributions of freshwater fish species to better inform positive conservation action and support desired management outcomes in BC's freshwater ecosystems. The 18 fish specimens deposited here to the RBCM already have mitogenome sequences and rDNA sequences publicly available. Unlike specimen collections house by individual researchers, RBCM collections represent permanent biological resources; as such, these specimen may be accessed indefinitely from the museum upon request"--Abstract, page v.
