"The purpose of the article is threefold: (1) to examine the amount of Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) funding that was allocated to different industries; (2) to determine the extent to which CEBA loans were repaid; and (3) to explore how the use of this financial support aligned with bankruptcy patterns in the lead up to and immediate aftermath of the January 2024 deadline to qualify for partial loan forgiveness. The results provide some insight into how the use of emergency funding programs may have influenced short and medium-term business survival rates"--Introduction, page 4.
