"Catch and effort statistics for the Canadian groundfish fishery (excluding halibut) on the Pacific coast in 1990 are presented. Statistics are shown by major areas, minor areas, and International North Pacific Fisheries Commission areas in metric tonnes (t). Total domestic landings in 1990 were 71,608 t, 13% above the total for 1989. Most of the catch was taken by trawl gear. The main species landed were Pacific hake, Pacific cod, Pacific ocean perch, lingcod, yellowtail rockfish, sablefish and widow rockfish. Joint venture and foreign fisheries along Canada's west coast caught 73,269 t of Pacific hake in 1990"--Abstract, page iv.
