Catch and effort statistics of the Canadian groundfish fishery on the Pacific coast in 1988 / by K.L. Rutherford. : Fs97-6/1728E-PDF

"Catch and effort statistics for the Canadian groundfish fishery (excluding halibut) on the Pacific coast in 1988 are presented. Statistics are shown by major areas, minor areas, and International North Pacific Fisheries Commission areas in metric tonnes (t). Total domestic landings in 1988 were 4% below the total for 1987. Most of the catch (83%) was taken by trawl gear. The main species landed were Pacific cod, Pacific ocean perch, Pacific hake, sablefish, dogfish, yellowtail rockfish, silvergrey rockfish, and lingcod. Joint venture and foreign fisheries along Canada's west coast caught 89,897 t of Pacific hake in 1988"--Abstract, page iv.
