"Catch and effort statistics for the Canadian groundfish fishery (excluding halibut) on the Pacific coast in 1986 are presented. Statistics are shown by major areas, minor areas, and International North Pacific Fisheries Commission areas in metric tonnes (t). Total domestic landings in 1986 were 16% above the total for 1985. The bulk (86%) of the catch was take by trawl gear. The main species landed were hake, Pacific ocean perch, sablefish, yellowtail rockfish, lingcod, Pacific cod, dogfish, and silvergray rockfish. Joint-venture and foreign fisheries along Canada's west coast caught 53,878 t of Pacific hake in 1986"--Abstract, page iv.
