"Within Canada there is an increasing demand for commercial and military satellite communicaions. The growing use of Ku-band for these bandwidth intensive applications has contributed to the growing interest in the unique characteristics of the Extremely High Frequency (EHF) band. The purpose of this report is to identify the EHF applications, the EHF systems and the EHF components that have the potential for viable commercial exploitation. The study results, together with DOC in-house analyses and input from the ESA Olympus program, will form the basis for the development by DOC of a cohesive EHF policy and program for Canada"--Executive Summary.
